Located in the Hamlet of Haines Falls, Town of Hunter, High Peak Motel is just six miles east of Hunter Mountain and fourteen miles from Ski Windham. High Peak is also the nearest motel to North / South Lake and the State Forest Preserve access.
In this unspoiled preserve you will find miles and miles of trails offering some of the most spectacular views in the East such as the Catskill Mountain House Site, Inspiration Point, and Sunset Rock, to name just a few. A must see, only a mile down the road from High Peak Motel, are the renowned Kaaterskill Falls, at 262ft. the highest waterfall in New York State. These magnificent falls, along with many other scenic wonders in our nearby forest preserve, were featured on PBS Network’s “Bill Moyers On the Hudson” along with numerous articles that appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, and other publications.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking, are among the many activities available for your enjoyment in this 75,000 acre forest preserve. This pristine wonderland is available to the public at no charge, and is open every day of the year.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoe and mountain bike rentals along with trail maps are available at Twilight Mountain Sports (conveniently located next to High Peak Motel). Discount rates on equipment rentals are also available for High Peak Motel guests. Please call for details.
